Golden Royalties Chapter History
Golden Royalties Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) was chartered May 8, 1993, sponsored by the Shining Star Chapter with twenty-seven (27) members. Charlotte Collins is the founder and was the first Chapter President. During our first year, we achieved many milestones. The Golden Royalties Chapter served as a sponsoring chapter of the ABWA National Convention in 1999. We have had numerous interesting program speakers, productive meetings, events and projects. In 2001, Kathy Hayes was our first National Top Ten Business Woman. In 2012, Attorney Reginald Davis was elected as the first male chapter president. In 2016, we received the first National Striving for Best Practices Award under the leadership of our then Chapter President Charlotte Collins. A special goal of the chapter is presenting annual scholarships. We also make annual contributions to the Stephen Bufton Memorial Educational Fund (SBMEF). This National fund has assisted women in their education endeavors through loans and grants since 1953. Our chapter has provided scholarships totaling over $30,000 to 25 recipients. We achieved total satisfaction by networking through our friendship teams and supporting each other in the ABWA world. Currently, we have Sixteen (16) active members on our roster.
